I need advice!! I am getting too busy to be healthy!

Although I work all day on a project which helps to promote healthy eating and physical activity, it’s really hard to find time in the day to actually do it! When I get home, I have some delicious cooked food waiting for me. Even though it always tastes great, I know it is not always the best for me. After finishing dinner, I have tons of homework to do and after that, its nighttime and I am really really tired. By the time I get to rest, it's close to bedtime. Can someone help me?!… Continue

Video Highlights of the Farm Trip on March 14th

On Saturday March 14, with funding from TAS' ROE after school program, students took a field trip to the McGrath Family Organic Farm. Our students learned a whole lot about farming, cooking, and the need to have more organic food offered to our communities.

Before blaming anyone for not eating healthy, maybe more resturants that are NOT unhealthy fast-foods should be opended. Less fast foods and more exercise can lead to less obesity (1). It's time for companies to start doing their part as well.

(1) Fast-food ad ban could cut… Continue

What?? I said. As I mentioned to all of you before, obesity is a serious problem that is getting worse every year. Smoking was very bad for many years as well (and still is), but it took a lot of… Continue

How many calories is in that soda? LET'S DO THE MATH!!!

When I lived in San Diego, I used to work for my dad fixing up cars for car shows. It was a pretty fun job and I always liked seeing the end product. Working on cars though, can really make you work up a sweat and of course you get really thirsty! Luckily, right next door to my dad's shop is a convenient store that sells fountain drinks. At least twice a day, the guys and I would wash out our own soft drink containers and take them to the convenient store for a fill-up on our sodas.… Continue

Healthy Food vs. Non-Healthy Food: Which is cheaper? LET'S DO THE MATH!

Okay, so yesterday I quickly rushed to the local grocery store at Baldwin Park. Although it was not one of the grocery stores I am familiar with, I was surprised at some of the prices of delicious fruits and vegetables they offered. By the time I made it to the checkout stand, I had put in my basket a wide variety of fruits and vegetables for over 20 people. Thinking that healthy food is always more expensive than unhealthy food, I braced for the… Continue
