Sleeping Tummy

I get my sleeping problems from my mom. My mom and I have this tendency that if we're in a stall position we could just shut our eyes and then we're completely knocked out. I think I observed my mom do it so much growing up that I grew immuned to it. So, today after the Youth Activism Against Obesity meeting, Christina (the advisor) and Connie (member) were in the car talking about life as usual. I was explaining to them how I get more sleep than any senior AP student I know of and I find it… Continue

Our enviromant says a lot about our phisical apperance

Talking form personal experience i moved from California to Kansas about 3 months ago. Clearwater is a small town with lots of openspace. Children from the ages of 5 years old are all alone on thier bikes and in the park. But most of all obiesity levels are really low. Between the of 10-15 obiesity in boys is 15% and in girls it's 7%. But since its a much smaller state than California there's more money so there are more activities for students to be in. There's cross country, football,… Continue

The ordinance will facilitate donations of edible surplus food from city agencies such as the Convention Center and Parks & Recreation to emergency food banks and pantries around the city. In addition, the city will promote the idea of salvaging the tons of perfectly good food thrown in the garbage to businesses, who will hopefully… Continue

Widening Waistlines and Shrinking Brains

A young person once asked me, "So can obesity make me less intelligent?" Interesting viewpoint. But, it may be something that's worth looking into. Here's what I found...

Recent research through Human Brain Mapping has demonstrated that the brains of overweight and obese people looked older (less brain tissue) than their healthy counterparts. The research by UCLA neuroscientist Paul Thompson found that the brains of obese…

Join the Time For Lunch Campaign- Help us write letters to Congress!

Hey everyone! I work for the non-profit Slow Food USA and right now we are running a national campaign to get healthier food into school lunches. School lunches provide around 31 million American children and young adults with at least one-third of their daily calories. For some students this is a main source of daily nourishment. You guys deserve nutrient rich, balanced school lunches—not meals that make you sick! So far over 30,000 kids, teachers, parents, and food workers in all 50 states… Continue

Well heres one for november

Since its November and its time for the Thanksgiving holiday, I've decided to take on a new goal: To get abs of STEEL!!!! :D. I'm 187 right now and I can see my abs somewhat but not how I would like them to be. I plan on doing this through CKD (Cyclic Ketogenic Diet). Throughout the CKD the body begins to retrain itself to obtain glycogen (fuel for your muscles) through fat instead of carbohydrates. This in turn creates an environment conducive to pure fat loss without muscle loss which is… Continue
