It Takes Guts to Fight Obesity

Who is really responsible for making people over weight...

Are we to blame for not being healthy?? or are the companies that make the bad food and products to blame??? Do we need to have stronger wills and just say no to fast food and junk food, or do these companies need take responsibility and start to make better and healthy products and food....We blame cigarette companies for lung cancer. Should we blame the fast food industry for obesity???????

that is a really hard quetions because we are all to blame... yes we are the one to buy the food that is not heathly but we are not the ones that ask for them to be more then about 10 fast food places in one places??

or

are we the one askking for that???
Its not the companies fault, they're just exploiting our education deficit (Great business by the way). It's our fault for not educating ourselves about better food choices, proper diet and exercise.I'm 17 and a senior and the food at my school is deplorable ( They put cheese and chili on hot cheetos and call THAT **** LUNCH!!). That contributes to the growing epidemic called child-hood obesity which could easily be stopped by educating ourselves and making better decisions for our nutrition and growth.

We wanted an easy way to fix dinner...so Pot Pies, TV Dinners, Frozen to the table foods. We never realized the food additives that caused us harm 10-20 yrs down the line. We didn't know there would be so many preservatives, MSG, Aspartame, and killer synthetics added to our foods. Aspartame is in everything...the worst...'DIET COKES', which causes fainting, siezures, brain becomes like swiss cheese, and you will have joint pain too.

Fast Foods have more sodium than ever known before....ppl are looking at calories, Sugar, but not understanding that they all are bad....arterial ' killer. All this is happening under the skin, inside our bodies.

Take care of yourselves now. You are our next generation. Be good to yourselves. Ask someone older who's been in the hospital in their 30's, ask someone older who knows ppl around them, and I'm an investigator b/c I am a healer.

I do whatever it takes to help family & friends, find the problem, find an alternative. Good luck, Tams'
I believe that the blame is to share between both the companies and the consumers. It is our fault that we buy it, but it is the company's fault that their food is so unhealthy. We consumers need to have more will power against eating unhealthy because we have the choice of eating something healthier. Like if you go to somewhere like Chic-fil-a or McDonald's then you can choose the fruit cup instead of the fries.
The real truth is that eating healthy is actually LESS expensive than eating out at a fast food restaurant. I spend about around 6 dollars a day for 6 meals. That includes the snacks :). However what we are lacking these days is TIME. It takes time to sit down and prepare a nutritious meal. We live in the age where being in constant communication with the world is normal. The generations before cell phones and computers were a lot healthier than we are because they had time to prepare a meal and excercise. Being outside and playing with friends was the norm. And because we live a 24/7 365 lifestyle that means time too cook is almost absent. This is where fast food comes in. It is almost IMPOSSIBLE to find healthy foods in a fast food restaurant. It is far better and a lot more effective to cook foods in oil. Foods cooked in oil cook way faster than foods not cooked in oil. Time is money in the fast food business and its cheaper. You save on electricity and gas too cook the foods. In this world you have to follow the money. In my experience it isn't worth the toll it takes on your body for that double quarter pounder.
www.obesitythunderbay.ning.com is focusing on what to do , and not about BLAMING . If you allow Blaming to enter the conversation you miss the point, and the point is this; the notion of SHARED ACCOUNTABILITY . Shared Accountability allows for an open free flowing conversation. This has been lacking ,and the reason it has been missed is as follows.
90 % of people feel obesity and fat people are lazy, unhealthy, unmotivated ,are slobs, stink and have a lack of will power, plus they chose to become deathly obese due to LIFESTYLE choice selection. The one thing that is constant and that I can absolutely agree with is as follows. The information on obesity has been piped by the media and it's sponsors. Look at the weight loss messages ,TRY HARDER,SIMPLE, EASY, FUN, and very attainable. The media has been reluctant to discuss food advertising, poverty ,education and we have allowed the media to distort the real message .
As an obese person I continue to try and rebuild my food relationship hourly.I do this by Mechanical Eating and becoming mindful of what food I eat and I try to tune into my body ,and make myself aware of how it moves . Lets work to end the Blaming and start a conversation about Childhood Obesity.
I do not have a miracle cure for obesity,I leave that up to the weight loss industry. I do have a desire to test my model. The model called Shared Accountability ,I believe may help us to begin the conversation.
