It Takes Guts to Fight Obesity

"Rethink Your Drink!" LA's fight over Sugary Beverages.

I recently attended a quarterly meeting for the Los Angeles Collaborative (www.lacollaborative.org) which is a partnership of over 200 agencies fighting against obesity countywide. Our organization - Youth Activism Against Obesity/WereFedUp.com - makes up part of the Collaborative’s leadership team. At this meeting, professionals from different sectors gave their expert opinions on sugary beverage consumption and its link to obesity. The results were startling!

In moving forward with 2010, one of the focus areas for the collaborative is to educate individuals and work with all partners to promote projects that help others "Rethink their Drink". By working together and combining our efforts, we believe that we can create a ripple effect that will lead to dramatic changes all across the county.
